What the 1500W rating means on a repair bench
The 1.5SMC10A TR13 PBFREE: That 1.5kW rating tells you it can absorb a surge that would vaporise a smaller device — on a 24V DC rail or a 12V automotive supply, this is the part that survives a load-dump transient without shorting. The reverse standoff voltage is 8.55V, meaning the rail it protects must stay below that in normal operation. Clamping kicks in at 14.5V maximum — that's the voltage the downstream silicon sees during the surge. The 103A peak pulse current (Ipp) at that clamp voltage is the actual current the diode shunts to ground.
Package and board-fit for the rework station
DO-214AB (SMC) is a standard surface-mount package with a large copper tab on the cathode side. The footprint is the same as other SMC TVS diodes — if you're replacing a scorched part on a board, the pad pattern is consistent across manufacturers. The Tape & Reel (TR) packaging means it feeds into a pick-and-place without manual handling. Operating temperature range is -65°C to 150°C (junction). That covers military temp down to the cold soak of an engine bay in winter.
Sourcing reality for a BOM line
It's a standard TVS in a common package, so second-source options exist from Littelfuse, Vishay, and others if the BOM needs a hedge. The PBFREE suffix confirms RoHS compliance without halogens.
