Four-channel capacitive isolator for mixed-voltage domains
The MAX14931FASE+ from Maxim Integrated is a 4-channel digital isolator using capacitive coupling to provide 2750 Vrms of galvanic isolation across a 16-SOIC package. It is a General Purpose device — no integrated DC-DC converter — so you supply the isolated-side power separately. The part is unidirectional: three channels run from Side 1 to Side 2, one channel runs the opposite direction, which covers the typical SPI or UART isolation pattern without wasting a channel. Supply range spans 1.71 V to 5.5 V on both sides, bridging logic domains directly without a level shifter. Data rate is 150 Mbps, propagation delay 7.5 ns max (tpLH) and 7.4 ns max (tpHL), pulse-width distortion 1 ns max. Operating temperature covers -40°C to 125°C, fitting industrial motor drives, outdoor telecom, and under-hood automotive environments (though not AEC-Q100 listed here). Common-mode transient immunity is 25 kV/µs minimum — that is the number that matters when the isolator sits next to a half-bridge switching at tens of kHz: it keeps the output from glitching on a fast-rising ground bounce.
Active, current production — no LTB risk
Lifecycle status is Active with ROHS3 compliance. There is no last-time-buy notice or end-of-life announcement. For new designs, this part is a safe choice; for production, the supply channel is stable through independent distribution.
Mounting and footprint
Surface-mount package is 16-SOIC with a 3.90 mm body width (0.154"). The narrow SOIC footprint matches many existing isolation footprints; verify the pin 1 orientation against your layout. Supplied in Tube (standard for sample and low-volume builds); reel options may be available through alternate ordering codes.
