Landed cost & tariff calculator

A USD quote from Mouser, Digi-Key, LCSC or an overseas fab isn't directly comparable with a domestic supplier — you still pay freight, import duty, VAT and brokerage. Enter the quote and this tool computes the true landed, tax-inclusive unit price.

What's included

Duty is charged on the CIF value (goods + freight), VAT on the CIF + duty base, and brokerage is a one-off per shipment. Use your actual duty code and rate — many IC categories differ. The result is a planning estimate, not a customs ruling.

Frequently asked questions

How is landed cost calculated from a FOB quote?

The tool starts from the foreign (FOB) unit price and adds international freight, import duty, VAT and one-off brokerage. Duty is charged on the CIF value (goods plus freight), VAT on the CIF-plus-duty base, so the unit landed cost is (goods×FX + freight + duty + VAT + brokerage) ÷ quantity — with the default FX rate of 7.25 and 13% VAT it reports the all-in, tax-inclusive unit price in RMB.

Is import duty charged on the goods value or on the CIF value?

Duty is charged on the CIF value — the goods subtotal plus international freight — and VAT is then charged on the CIF-plus-duty base. The brokerage fee is a one-off per shipment split across the order quantity; the defaults of ¥80 freight and ¥150 brokerage are typical starting points.

Why does a landed cost calculator need an exchange rate?

A USD or EUR quote is not directly comparable with a domestic supplier quote, so the FX rate converts the goods subtotal into local currency before duty and VAT are applied. The default of 7.25 RMB per USD is only a starting point — enter today’s interbank rate or your corporate buy rate, and the tool warns if the value looks off.

This is a planning estimate. Actual duty and VAT depend on the commodity code and local regulations — confirm with your customs broker before budgeting. ICBOMS does not provide tax or customs advice.
