6.8 µH, 420 mA — the DCR and current trade-off
The LBC2518T6R8MV: Rated for 420 mA continuous with a maximum DC resistance of 390 mOhm — the DCR here is the dominant loss term at full load, so the temperature rise inside the inductor is driven by I²R heating rather than core loss at the self-resonant frequency of 38 MHz. Unshielded construction means the magnetic field extends beyond the part body — keep adjacent high-impedance traces or sensitive analog circuits at least one part width away to avoid coupling. The ±20% tolerance is typical for power-grade wirewound inductors; if your DC-DC converter's loop compensation or output ripple spec requires tighter inductance, a shielded part with ±10% tolerance is a better fit.
Footprint and temperature range
Rated for operation from -40°C to +105°C, covering industrial ambient conditions inside an enclosure with moderate airflow.
