680 µH wirewound in a 1007 footprint
The Taiyo Yuden LBC2518T681K is a wirewound inductor from the LB, C Type series, delivering 680 µH ±10% in an unshielded 1007 (2518 Metric) surface-mount package. Rated for 45 mA DC with a DCR of 28 Ohm, it targets low-current filtering and decoupling roles where the 3 MHz self-resonant frequency keeps the inductive impedance dominant across the band.
NRND — not for new designs
Existing BOM lines can still be filled through independent distribution, but new board spins should look at active alternatives in the same footprint. The 1007 (2518) metric footprint is common across the LB series — a pin-to-pin compatible active variant with a similar inductance and current rating is the straightforward migration path.
Design-in constraints
Unshielded construction means the 680 µH coil radiates a stray field — keep sensitive traces or other magnetics at least one package width away to avoid coupling. The 28 Ohm DCR drops 1.26 V at the 45 mA rated current, so the available supply headroom must account for that IR drop plus the inductor's own temperature rise. Operating range from -25°C to 105°C covers most indoor and telecom environments but does not reach the -40°C floor needed for automotive or outdoor cold-climate gear.
