Inductance and current rating — the BOM-fit check
The LBC2518T330K is a wirewound inductor from Taiyo Yuden's LB, C Type series, offering 33 µH inductance with ±10% tolerance, tested at 2.52 MHz. Its 185 mA current rating is the DC current at which the inductance typically drops by 10% due to core saturation — stay below this in steady-state to maintain the nominal inductance value. The 1.5 Ohm DC resistance (DCR) sets the I²R conduction loss: at 185 mA, the self-heating is roughly 51 mW.
Frequency limits and unshielded construction
The self-resonant frequency (SRF) is 15 MHz — above this the inductor behaves capacitively. For a 33 µH part, the SRF is consistent with the inter-winding capacitance of a wirewound construction. The unshielded design means the magnetic field radiates; keep sensitive traces or other magnetics at least one part-width away to avoid coupling. Operating temperature spans -25°C to 105°C, covering most commercial and industrial environments. The inductance and DCR shift with temperature — the copper winding's resistance increases roughly 0.4%/°C, so at 105°C the DCR is about 1.98 Ohm, and the I²R loss rises accordingly.
