Rail-to-rail steering array for USB and Ethernet ports
The STMicroelectronics USBLC6-4SC6 is a rail-to-rail steering TVS diode array designed to protect high-speed data lines from ESD and surge events. Its four unidirectional channels clamp transients to a safe voltage while presenting minimal capacitance to the signal path, making it suitable for USB 2.0, Ethernet, and other differential-pair interfaces. Each channel provides a reverse standoff voltage of 5.25 V typical, with a breakdown voltage minimum of 6 V. Under a 5 A peak pulse current (8/20 µs waveform), the clamping voltage is held to 17 V maximum — sufficient to protect 5 V-tolerant PHY and controller ICs.
Four channels, one small package
Four unidirectional steering diodes are integrated into a single SOT-23-6 package (supplier device package SOT-23-6). This footprint saves board area compared to discrete diode pairs and simplifies layout for differential pairs such as USB D+/D− or Ethernet TX+/TX−. Power line protection is built in, meaning the device can handle sustained overvoltage on the supply rail without latching or damage.
