I²C digital air quality sensor for embedded gas detection
The Renesas ZMOD4510AI2V is a digital air quality sensor that communicates over an I²C bus, making it a direct drop-in for designs that already have a spare I²C port on the host MCU — no ADC or analog front-end needed on the board. Rated accuracy of 15% means the reported gas concentration reading falls within ±15% of the true value under the sensor's calibrated conditions — sufficient for IAQ trend monitoring where the absolute ppm number is less critical than the relative change over time.
1.7 V supply and 11 µA draw — battery-sensor node fit
Operating from a 1.7 V supply rail, the ZMOD4510AI2V runs directly off a single-cell Li-ion battery near its end-of-discharge voltage (3.0 V nominal stepped down) or a regulated 1.8 V rail — no boost converter needed for the sensor power domain. Typical current consumption of 0.011 A (11 mA) during measurement cycles keeps the sensor's share of the system power budget low enough for battery-powered IAQ monitors that sample every few minutes. The -40°C to 65°C operating temperature range covers indoor commercial and residential environments as well as cold-chain storage monitoring — the sensor's chemistry and packaging are rated for the full span without derating.
