80-LQFP package and board integration
The R5F2L38CBNFP#V2 comes in an 80-LQFP package with a 12x12 mm body. Decouple each VDD/VSS pair with a 100 nF ceramic within 3 mm of the pin; the wide tolerance on the supply means the MCU tolerates a noisy rail better than a 1.2 V-core part would.
Memory budget and peripheral fit
128 KB of on-chip flash and 10 KB of RAM place this MCU in the mid-range of the R8C/Lx family. The flash holds a modest RTOS kernel plus application code for an instrument cluster or a simple HMI; the 10 KB RAM leaves room for a few hundred bytes of stack and a double-buffered LCD frame buffer if the display resolution stays under 128x64 pixels. On-chip peripherals include an LCD driver, POR, PWM, voltage detect, and WDT. The 16-channel 10-bit ADC and 2-channel 8-bit DAC handle analog sensing — temperature, knob position, battery voltage — without an external converter. Connectivity covers I²C, LINbus, SIO, SSU, and UART/USART, enough for a CAN gateway via an external transceiver or a LIN slave node.
Active lifecycle and compliance flag
This is a BOM-level flag: if the end product requires RoHS exemption 7(c)-I for high-lead solder, the exemption must be claimed; otherwise a Pb-free alternative in the same series should be sourced. Operating temperature range is -20°C to +85°C, the industrial band. This covers most indoor and automotive-cabin applications but not under-hood or extended-temp environments.
