The 20 KB x 8 SRAM and 8 KB x 8 EEPROM on the same die mean the part can hold a moderate RTOS heap plus non-volatile calibration data without an external serial EEPROM — the EEPROM block is rated for the full RL78 endurance profile, not emulated from Flash.
Automotive temperature grade and the AEC-Q100 stamp
The AEC-Q100 certification means the part passed the full suite of automotive stress tests: temperature cycling, HAST, ESD (HBM/CDM), latch-up, and extended burn-in. For a BOM destined for an engine-control or transmission ECU, this is the qualification that avoids a separate PPAP submission.

Data converters for analog sensor capture
