Galvanic isolation for industrial signal paths
The PS9587L2-V-E3-AX: The PS9587L2-V--AX: The Renesas NEPOC PS9587L2-V--AX is a single-channel optocoupler delivering 5000Vrms galvanic isolation between input and output. It switches at up to 10Mbps with an open-collector output rated for 25 mA per channel, making it a fit for isolating digital control signals — PLC digital inputs, motor drive feedback, and isolated serial links where the ground potential difference can exceed a kilovolt. The 15kV/µs common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) means this part holds data integrity across the isolation barrier when the output side sees fast voltage swings — think IGBT switching edges in a VFD or inverter leg. At 75ns max propagation delay (both directions), loop timing stays tight enough for most industrial fieldbus and sensor interfaces running below 5 Mbps. Input is DC-coupled with a typical forward voltage of 1.65V and max forward current of 30 mA. The open-collector output lets you pull up to whatever logic rail the receiving side needs — 3.3V or 5V — as long as the collector current stays under 25 mA. Supply range on the output side is 4.5V to 5.5V.
Package and mounting for production
Housed in an 8-SMD gull wing package (also listed as 8-DIP Gull Wing), this is a surface-mount part for reflow assembly. The gull-wing leads give good visual inspection access post-solder — a plus for proto builds and repair benches. Shipping options include Tape & Reel and Cut Tape, so it fits both automated pick-and-place lines and manual prototype runs.
Temperature range and operating environment
Not rated for extended automotive under-hood temps (125°C), but fine for cabin or chassis-mounted gear in non-AEC applications.
