CTR and drive margin
Current transfer ratio is specified at 15% minimum and 45% maximum, both at 16mA forward current. The wide CTR range means the output transistor's collector current can vary significantly between units. For designs that need a guaranteed minimum output current at a known LED drive, the 15% floor sets the worst-case headroom. The 8mA per-channel output current rating is the absolute maximum the output transistor can sink; derate for ambient temperature above 25°C per the thermal derating curve.
Forward voltage and LED drive
Typical forward voltage is 1.7V, with an absolute maximum forward current of 25mA. The 1.7V Vf is typical for a GaAs infrared LED; the actual Vf can shift with temperature and aging. Design the LED drive resistor for the minimum CTR condition at the lowest expected operating temperature to ensure the output side still switches cleanly.
Lifecycle and compliance
It is ROHS3 compliant, meeting the latest EU restriction of hazardous substances directive. No LTB risk for new designs; the part is available through independent distribution and quoted to order against an RFQ.
