5000Vrms reinforced isolation in a 6-SOIC body
The Renesas PS8302L-V-AX is a single-channel NEPOC phototransistor optocoupler in a 6-SOIC surface-mount package with a 6-SDIP supplier package designation. It provides 5000Vrms galvanic isolation between a DC input LED and a phototransistor output with base access, rated for industrial and high-reliability applications that demand reinforced isolation in a compact footprint. The output transistor is rated for 35V maximum and 8mA per channel, with the base terminal brought out — useful for adding a speed-up capacitor or base-emitter resistor to tailor switching behaviour.
CTR floor and LED drive budget
The minimum current transfer ratio is 15% at 16mA forward current. This is the number that sets the LED drive current in the BOM: to guarantee the output transistor saturates at a given load, you size the series resistor so the LED sees at least 16mA across the input voltage range, accounting for the 1.6V typical forward drop and the 25mA absolute maximum DC forward current. A 15% CTR floor is on the lower side for a phototransistor coupler — expect to need roughly 6.7mA of LED current per milliamp of output load current at the minimum. Designs with tight input-side power budgets should verify headroom at the cold end of the temperature range, where CTR typically degrades further.
