Single-channel photocoupler with AC/DC input for industrial isolation
The PS2915-1-V-AX: Single-channel transistor-output photocoupler in a 4-Mini-Flat surface-mount package. Provides 2500Vrms of galvanic isolation between input and output.
Most single-channel optocouplers in this footprint are DC-input only. The PS2915-1-V-AX accepts both AC and DC, which simplifies designs that need to detect the presence of an AC line (e.g., mains voltage sense, zero-cross detection, or isolated AC fault monitoring). No external diode bridge is needed on the input side, saving board area and BOM cost. The input is a bidirectional LED pair, so the polarity of the drive signal does not matter — a single series resistor sets the current.
CTR window and switching speed
The 100% to 400% CTR range at 1mA If gives the designer a predictable gain window for logic-level translation. At the minimum CTR of 100%, a 1mA input still guarantees the output transistor can sink at least 1mA — enough to drive a CMOS gate input or a low-power relay. The 40µs turn-on and 120µs turn-off times (typical) confirm this part is aimed at low-frequency isolation, not high-speed data. For applications like PLC digital inputs, relay drivers, or power-supply feedback, the switching speed is more than adequate.
Package and mounting
The 4-Mini-Flat package has flat leads (no gull-wing), which keeps the mounted height low. It is supplied in Tape & Reel for automated pick-and-place. The surface-mount footprint is compact — four pads in a single row — and the device is ROHS3 compliant.
Lifecycle and sourcing
It is ROHS3 compliant.
