It provides 5000Vrms galvanic isolation between input and output, making it a fit for breaking ground loops and protecting low-voltage logic from high-side transients in industrial controls, power supplies, and motor drives. The input accepts both AC and DC drive, which simplifies polarity-insensitive designs — you can wire the LED in either direction or feed it from an AC-coupled signal without an external bridge. Current transfer ratio spans 80% to 400% at a forward current of 5 mA.
