Package and mounting
The PS2533L-1-V-F3-A is a single-channel Darlington-output optocoupler from Renesas's NEPOC series, built for galvanic isolation in industrial and power-conversion circuits. Its headline rating is 5000Vrms of isolation — enough to separate a 240VAC motor-drive phase from a 3.3V logic controller, or to provide the safety barrier in an off-line power supply feedback loop. The Darlington output stage delivers a current transfer ratio (CTR) ranging from 1500% to 6500% at a forward current of 1mA, meaning you can drive the LED with a few hundred microamps and still saturate the output transistor. That wide CTR spread is the main thing to budget for in production: a design that works with a 1500% unit may overdrive the output at 6500%, so plan the collector load resistor for the worst-case minimum CTR, not the typical. The output is rated for 350V and 150mA — enough to switch a small relay, drive a PLC input, or pull down a high-side signal, but not for direct power switching. Rise and fall times are 100µs typical, so this part is for DC-level signalling or slow AC (50/60 Hz) — not for high-speed data or PWM above a few hundred hertz.
Package and temperature — field-fit check
It comes in a 4-SMD Gull Wing package (4-SMD supplier device package), surface-mount only. The gull-wing leads are visible and inspectable — good for rework if you have a hot-air station, though the 4-pin body is small enough that a soldering iron with a fine tip can swap it on a board without a full reflow oven. Operating temperature range is -55°C to 100°C, which covers outdoor telecom cabinets, engine-bay electronics, and cold-storage environments. The forward voltage is 1.15V typical, and the LED can take up to 80mA continuous — plenty of headroom for driving from a 3.3V or 5V logic output through a series resistor.
Lifecycle and compliance — no LTB pressure
It is ROHS3 compliant, which means no exemptions expiring soon. The NEPOC series is a mature optocoupler line from Renesas, and this variant is still in regular production.
