The ISL6292BCRZ is a single-cell Li-Ion battery charger IC from Renesas, programmed for a constant-current/constant-voltage profile with a 4.2V termination voltage.
Programmable timer — the only user-set parameter on the die
The only programmable feature is a timer, which terminates the charge cycle after a fixed period if the battery has not reached the 4.2V regulation voltage. This is a safety timeout for the CC/CV stage — if your battery's capacity requires a charge time longer than the timer's default window, the part will cut off before full charge. The timer value is set by an external resistor; the datasheet gives the resistor-to-time mapping. Supply voltage max is 6.5V, so the input rail must be a regulated 5V supply — a raw USB bus at 5.25V is fine, but a 12V wall adapter needs a pre-regulator. The part operates from -20°C to 70°C, which covers indoor and most portable equipment ambient ranges but not automotive cabin or engine bay.
