400 V / 16 A TRIAC for AC power switching
The Renesas Electronics AC16DGM-AZ is a TRIAC rated for 400 V repetitive peak off-state voltage and 16 A RMS on-state current, suited for AC load switching in industrial and appliance power stages.
What the 400 V / 16 A rating means for your circuit
The 400 V Vdrm rating covers nominal 230 VAC mains with margin for line transients up to the device's blocking voltage — in a 230 V line, peak voltage is 325 V, leaving 75 V headroom for surges before the TRIAC self-triggers. The 16 A It(rms) is the continuous current the junction can carry at rated case temperature; derate this figure for ambient operation above 25 °C per the datasheet's thermal derating curve. Bulk packaging means the parts ship in tubes or trays, not tape-and-reel — expect manual or tube-fed placement, not automated pick-and-place from a reel.
Sourcing and compliance
ROHS3 compliance covers the full ten restricted substances including the four phthalates — no exemption declarations are needed for EU-market equipment.
