Bus transceiver with 3-state isolation
The 74FCT245CTSOG is an 8-bit non-inverting transceiver from Renesas' 74FCT series, designed for bidirectional data flow on a bus with 3-state outputs that can be disabled to isolate the bus segment.
Output drive and bus loading
The output stage sources 15 mA and sinks 64 mA per channel, which means it can drive the characteristic impedance of a backplane trace or a short ribbon cable without needing an external buffer — the 64 mA sink handles the capacitive load of multiple receiver inputs on the same bus. With a single-element, 8-bit configuration, one package replaces eight discrete bus-keep or line-driver gates, reducing component count on a memory-address or data-bus interface.
Package and board integration
The surface-mount package suits automated pick-and-place assembly; the wide-body SOIC offers better thermal dissipation than the narrow-body variant for the same pin count.
