Output drive and signal direction
This is an 8-bit non-inverting transceiver with 3-state outputs — it can drive a bidirectional data bus (A to B or B to A) and tri-state the outputs when the bus is idle. The output current capability is 15 mA source, 64 mA sink, which is enough to drive a lightly loaded backplane or a bank of CMOS inputs without external buffers.
