Memory sizing and BOM fit
128 KB Flash and 40 KB RAM. The 2 KB EEPROM holds calibration constants and node-ID without an external serial EEPROM.
Connectivity and peripheral set
Connectivity includes CANbus, I²C, IrDA, Microwire, SPI, SSI, SSP, UART/USART, and USB. That covers the common industrial fieldbuses and sensor interfaces without external transceivers (except for CAN PHY and USB PHY). The 8-channel 12-bit ADC and single 10-bit DAC handle analog feedback and setpoint generation. Brown-out detect, POR, and watchdog are on-chip, so a simple external supervisor is optional.
