The 120 MHz Cortex-M3 delivers enough headroom to run a real-time control loop alongside an Ethernet stack and a simple GUI on the LCD controller. The 512 KB Flash holds a moderate application image with room for a bootloader and a small file system; the 96 KB RAM handles TCP/IP buffers and a frame buffer for a QVGA display without external SRAM. If your design needs more RAM for larger frame buffers or a web server, the EBI/EMI interface on this same package lets you add external SDRAM or SRAM — a flexibility the smaller LPC176x parts lack.
