100 µH at 160 mA — what the ratings decide
The Murata LQH43NN101J03L is a drum-core wirewound inductor in the LQH43 series, offering 100 µH inductance with ±5% tolerance and a 160 mA current rating. The 2.5 Ohm max DCR sets the copper loss at full load — at 160 mA the I²R loss is 64 mW, which drives the temperature rise above ambient. For a filter or DC-DC output stage, the self-resonant frequency of 6.8 MHz defines the upper bound of usable frequency; above that the impedance turns capacitive and the inductor no longer performs as intended.
1812 footprint and reflow assembly
The unshielded construction means the magnetic field extends beyond the package — keep a clearance of at least one part width to adjacent traces or components to avoid coupling noise into the signal path.
