12 µH drum core in the 1206 footprint
The Murata LQH31MN120J03L is a 12 µH unshielded wirewound inductor in the 1206 (3216 Metric) surface-mount package, part of the LQH31 series. It is rated for 95 mA continuous current with a DC resistance of 2.7 Ohm. The ferrite drum core construction gives it a self-resonant frequency of 18 MHz, so it stays inductive well into the HF band — useful for filtering in DC-DC converters and signal conditioning circuits that operate below that point.
What the ratings mean for the circuit
The 95 mA current rating is the DC bias current at which the inductance typically drops by 10% — stay below that to keep the inductance close to 12 µH. The 2.7 Ohm DCR means an I²R loss of about 24 mW at full rated current, which is fine for most signal and low-power rail filtering. Q factor is 35 at 5 MHz, giving a reasonable efficiency for tuned circuits or impedance matching at that frequency. The ±5% tolerance is tight enough for most filter designs where the inductance value matters.
Package and board-fit
Reflow-solder compatible; tape-and-reel packaging for automated pick-and-place. No shielding, so keep sensitive traces or other magnetics at least a few mm away to avoid coupling. The unshielded construction means it radiates a small magnetic field — fine for low-current signal paths, but not ideal directly under a sensitive ADC or RF section without layout care.
