15 µH, 150 mA — what the ratings mean for the BOM
The LQH2MCN150M52L is a drum-core wirewound inductor from Murata's LQH2 series, delivering 15 µH inductance at a 1 MHz test frequency with a ±20% tolerance. Rated at 150 mA DC, the 4.55 Ohm max DCR means the I²R loss at full current is about 102 mW — within the 0806 package's thermal budget for most ambient conditions, but the temperature rise at the rated current should be verified against the board's local heating. The 30 MHz self-resonant frequency sets the upper bound for effective filtering — above that the inductor behaves capacitively, so it is best suited for DC-DC converter output filters or signal-line decoupling where the ripple frequency stays well below 30 MHz.
The unshielded construction means magnetic flux radiates from the core; keep sensitive analog traces or low-level signal lines at least a few mm away to avoid coupling noise.
