AEC-Q200 qualification and the 2.52A current rating
The LQH2HPZR47MGRL is a shielded drum-core wirewound inductor from Murata's LQH2 series, rated at 470 nH ±20% with a continuous current of 2.52 A. The 2.52 A current rating is the DC current at which the temperature rise stays within the datasheet limit; the saturation current (Isat) is 2.9 A, the point where inductance drops by 30%. In a DC-DC converter input rail, the ripple current plus the DC bias must stay below the saturation knee, not just the thermal rating — a 2.52 A load with 20% ripple peaks at 3.02 A, which exceeds Isat and will cause the inductor to lose its stored energy.
DCR and the 1008 footprint
The 54 mOhm max DCR sets the copper loss at 2.52 A to roughly 0.34 W — a 1008 (2520 Metric) package with a 1.0 mm seated height dissipates that into the board copper, not free air. The ferrite core is shielded, so the inductor can sit next to a sensitive analog front-end without coupling noise into the signal path.
