4.7 µH shielded inductor for automotive power rails
The Murata LQH2HPZ4R7MDRL is a 4.7 µH shielded wirewound inductor in the LQH2 series, rated for 650 mA continuous current with a maximum DCR of 672 mOhm. The ferrite core and shielded construction keep magnetic flux contained, which matters when the inductor sits next to sensitive analog or RF circuitry on the same board.
Current rating and saturation headroom
The rated current of 650 mA and saturation current of 650 mA are identical — the inductor saturates at the same current it is rated for. In a DC-DC converter, the peak inductor current under transient load must stay below this figure, or the inductance drops sharply and the ripple current rises. The self-resonant frequency of 40 MHz is well above the switching frequency of most automotive buck converters (2-4 MHz), so parasitic self-resonance is not a concern in that application. The ±20% tolerance is typical for power-grade ferrite inductors; the actual inductance at the rated current will be at the low end of the band due to DC bias.
