1.5 µH shielded inductor for automotive and industrial DC-DC stages
The Murata LQH2HNH1R5K03L is a 1.5 µH ±10% shielded wirewound inductor in the LQH2 series, rated for 380 mA continuous current with a maximum DC resistance of 185 mOhm. The shielded ferrite core construction contains the magnetic field within the 1008 (2520 Metric) package, reducing radiated EMI that could couple into nearby signal traces on a dense PCB layout.
Current rating and DCR: the thermal budget drivers
The 380 mA current rating is the DC bias current at which the inductance typically drops by 30% from the nominal 1.5 µH value — above this current the inductor begins to saturate and the ripple current in a buck converter increases sharply. 185 mOhm DCR at 25°C produces an I²R loss of 27 mW at full rated current; this self-heating raises the winding temperature above ambient and must be factored into the total thermal budget of the power stage. The self-resonant frequency of 130 MHz sets the upper bound for useful filtering — above this frequency the parasitic capacitance between windings dominates and the component behaves as a capacitor rather than an inductor.
