What the 3.5 A rating means for your rail
The DFE252012P-R68M=P2 is a shielded drum-core wirewound inductor from Murata's DFE252012P series, built with flat-wire windings on an iron powder core. Its 680 nH inductance is rated for 3.5 A continuous current, with a saturation current of 4.8 A — the point where inductance drops by 30%. The 37 mOhm max DCR sets the I²R conduction loss: at 3.5 A, expect about 0.45 W of self-heating. That is manageable in the 1008 footprint, but the temperature rise above ambient should be checked against the -40 to +125 °C operating range if the inductor sits near other hot components.
The shielded construction and iron-powder core keep radiated noise low, which matters when the inductor shares a board with sensitive analog or RF stages. Available on tape and reel (cut tape option) — standard pick-and-place compatible. The flat-wire winding gives a lower profile and better DC bias performance than round-wire equivalents in the same footprint.
