330 nH, 3.8 A — automotive-grade shielded power inductor
The Murata DFE201612PD-R33M=P2 is a shielded wirewound power inductor from the DFE201612P series, built around a metal core in an 0806 (2016 metric) surface-mount package. It delivers 330 nH ±20% inductance with a continuous current rating of 3.8 A and a saturation current floor of 4.5 A. AEC-Q200 qualification means this part is screened for automotive-grade reliability — temperature cycling, mechanical shock, and bias humidity stress per the passive-component qualification standard.
DC resistance and saturation margin
Maximum DCR is 26 mOhm — at 3.8 A the I²R loss is about 375 mW, which the 0806 footprint dissipates without exceeding the 125°C ceiling when the board copper is adequate. The 4.5 A saturation current gives 18% headroom above the rated current; the inductance rolls off gradually past Isat, so transient spikes that push above 3.8 A won't cause a hard collapse. Shielded construction contains the magnetic field within the core — the part can sit next to sensitive analog traces or other magnetics without coupling noise into adjacent circuits. The metal core also handles higher DC bias without saturating than a ferrite core of the same volume.
