DC resistance and saturation margin
Maximum DCR is 26 mOhm — at 3.8 A the I²R loss is about 375 mW, which the 0806 footprint dissipates without exceeding the 125°C ceiling when the board copper is adequate. The 4.5 A saturation current gives 18% headroom above the rated current; the inductance rolls off gradually past Isat, so transient spikes that push above 3.8 A won't cause a hard collapse. Shielded construction contains the magnetic field within the core — the part can sit next to sensitive analog traces or other magnetics without coupling noise into adjacent circuits.
