The Infineon FM24CL16B-GTR is a 16 Kbit non-volatile FRAM (Ferroelectric RAM) organized as 2K x 8 bits, accessed over an I2C bus running at up to 1 MHz. This makes it a drop-in replacement for 24Cxx-series EEPROM in designs that need faster write throughput or higher endurance without adding a backup battery.
Supply rail and temperature — where it sits on the board
The part runs from a 2.7V to 3.65V supply, which covers the common 3.3V rail with headroom for a 10% droop. A 2.5V-only rail is below the minimum — the regulator needs to hold above 2.7V at the memory pins.
Package and rework — 8-SOIC is a forgiving footprint
No exposed pad, no thermal-via planning — just a straightforward two-row layout that reflows cleanly with a hot-air station.
