1.5 kW Zener clamp for a 7.5 V rail
The SMCJ7.5CA-13-F: Its reverse standoff voltage of 7.5 V means it sits transparently across the rail during normal operation, only conducting when the line exceeds the 8.33 V minimum breakdown threshold. At the full 1.5 kW peak pulse power rating, the clamping voltage is held to 12.9 V maximum while passing 116.3 A of peak pulse current under the standard 10/1000 µs waveform. That clamp voltage is the number that matters for downstream silicon — a 12 V-rated IC on that rail still sees a comfortable margin below its abs-max.
DO-214AB SMC — rework and board-fit
The supplier device package is also listed as SMC, and the mounting type is surface mount. Orientation is unambiguous on a bidirectional part — no cathode band to read, which saves a rework cycle if the part gets flipped.
