Clamping a 64V rail with 1500W headroom
The SMCJ64CA-13: This means a transient that would otherwise punch through the oxide of a downstream IC is clamped to 103V — well within the typical 100-120V abs-max of many power-management devices on a 60V bus. The 1500W rating gives margin for surges from inductive load switching or lightning-induced transients on outdoor cabling.
Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) package, the part is surface-mount and occupies a standard footprint shared across the SMCJ family. The supplier device package is also SMC, so the pad layout is consistent whether you use this or a unidirectional sibling. Operating temperature range is -55°C to 150°C junction, covering automotive under-hood and industrial outdoor enclosures without derating. No power line protection feature is claimed, so this is a signal- or bus-level TVS, not a primary AC mains protector.
