Clamping window and pulse capability
The SMCJ6.5A-13-F: Breakdown occurs at a minimum of 7.22 V, and clamping holds at 11.2 V max — a 4 V window that keeps a 5 V supply within its absolute-max rating during a surge. The 133.9 A peak pulse current at the 10/1000 µs test condition means this part can absorb a heavy transient on a low-voltage bus without exceeding the junction temperature limit of 150°C. The unidirectional channel (one device per package) is suited for DC rails where the transient polarity is known; for AC or bidirectional lines a separate bidirectional TVS would be needed.
Package and board integration
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the SMCJ6.5A-13-F uses the standard footprint for 1.5 kW TVS diodes — the same pad layout as many competitive SMC-package parts, simplifying BOM substitution.
