45V rail protection with 1500W surge capacity
The SMCJ45CA-13-F: Its 45V reverse standoff voltage means the device does not conduct at normal operating voltage up to that level, so it sits across the rail without loading it. When a surge exceeds the 50V minimum breakdown voltage, the device avalanches and clamps the voltage to a maximum of 72.7V while shunting up to 20.6A of peak pulse current under the standard 10/1000µs waveform. With a 1500W peak pulse power rating, this part handles the energy from a typical lightning-induced surge or inductive load dump on a 45V DC bus. The bidirectional configuration means a single component protects against both positive and negative transients — useful on AC signal lines or DC rails where reverse polarity events are possible.
DO-214AB SMC footprint and assembly fit
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) package, this TVS uses the standard JEDEC footprint for 1500W-rated devices. The device is rated for general-purpose applications, meaning no special derating or filtering is required for standard industrial or telecom use.
The base product number SMCJ45 covers the full family of unidirectional and bidirectional variants at this voltage rating; the -13-F suffix indicates the Tape & Reel packaging format for automated pick-and-place assembly. Cut Tape quantities are also available for prototype runs.
