1500W surge clamp for a 36V rail
The SMCJ36CA-13 is a bidirectional TVS diode from Diodes Incorporated, designed to protect a 36V nominal rail from transient overvoltage events. It clamps at 58.1V maximum while handling 25.8A of peak pulse current (10/1000µs waveform), absorbing up to 1500W of surge energy.
Bidirectional, one channel, no polarity worries
With a single bidirectional channel, this part protects against both positive and negative transients on the same line — no need to worry about orientation during assembly or when the signal swings bipolar. The 40V minimum breakdown voltage gives a comfortable margin above the 36V standoff.
DO-214AB SMC package — field-swappable
Housed in the standard DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, it is a common footprint that rework stations handle easily. The wide -55°C to 150°C junction temperature range means it holds up in hot enclosures or near power stages without derating the surge rating.
