1500W peak pulse, 18V standoff — the transient it catches
The SMCJ18A-13-F: It starts clamping at 20V breakdown minimum and holds the transient to 29.2V maximum at the full 51.4A peak pulse current — which means a 24V rail sees the spike clipped before it reaches the downstream regulator's abs-max. The 18V reverse standoff voltage is the DC operating level where the diode draws negligible leakage; the rail sits comfortably below the 20V breakdown knee, so the TVS stays invisible until a surge arrives.
DO-214AB SMC footprint and temperature range
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the SMCJ18A-13-F mates with the standard SMC footprint — the same pad pattern used across the 1500W TVS family, so a BOM swap between voltage variants needs no board spin. Power line protection is not supported — this is a signal- or low-voltage-rail TVS, not a mains-side suppressor.
