1500 W peak pulse, 160 V standoff — the rail clamp for 160 VDC buses
The SMCJ160CA-13-F: It clamps transients to 259 V maximum at the 5.8 A peak pulse current, making it the primary clamp for a 160 VDC power rail — telecom rectifier outputs, industrial DC bus, or battery strings in the 150–170 V range. The 178 V minimum breakdown voltage ensures the device stays off the rail during normal operation, while the 259 V clamp catches overvoltage events before downstream DC-DC converters or load switches see destructive stress.
DO-214AB SMC package — board-fit and thermal path
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the SMCJ160CA-13-F delivers its 1500 W rating through the copper pad area on the cathode tab — the PCB land pattern should match the recommended footprint in the datasheet to keep junction temperature below 150 °C during the pulse. The -55 °C to 150 °C operating range covers outdoor telecom cabinets and industrial enclosures without derating. Supplied on Tape & Reel (TR), it feeds directly into a standard pick-and-place line. The SMC body is large enough for visual inspection after reflow, and the tin-plated terminations are RoHS-compatible per Diodes' standard plating.
