1500 W peak pulse in a DO-214AB body
The SMCJ13CAQ-13-F: It clamps transients at 21.5 V maximum while conducting 69.7 A of peak pulse current, making it sized for automotive load-dump and inductive kickback events on a 13 V nominal rail. The 13 V reverse standoff voltage means the part stays transparent below the rail and only starts conducting above 14.4 V breakdown — it won't clip normal 12 V system ripple.
AEC-Q101 and the under-hood temperature envelope
That covers under-hood ambient plus self-heating during a surge event — the die stays within its SOA even when the engine bay is at 105°C and the TVS is absorbing a pulse. The DO-214AB (SMC) package has a large copper tab on the cathode side — the board copper area under that tab sets the thermal resistance. For sustained repetitive pulses, a 1-inch² pad on 2 oz copper keeps the junction below the 150°C limit.
Active production, sourced per RFQ
The AEC-Q101 qualification and DO-214AB footprint are shared across the SMCJ automotive family, but the 13 V standoff and bidirectional configuration are specific to this variant.
