1500W bidirectional TVS for 13V rail protection
The SMCJ13CA-13-F: It clamps transients at 21.5V maximum while conducting 69.7A peak pulse current, making it suitable for protecting 12V DC power rails, signal lines, and I/O ports in general-purpose equipment. The 13V standoff means the TVS does not conduct at normal operating voltages up to 13V; only when a transient exceeds the 14.4V minimum breakdown threshold does it begin to clamp. The 21.5V clamp voltage ensures downstream components rated for 24V or higher see a safe voltage during a surge event.
Package and temperature range
Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the SMCJ13CA-13-F occupies a standard footprint with a solderable cathode tab for thermal dissipation. The bidirectional configuration uses a single die with two back-to-back Zener junctions, so polarity orientation is irrelevant during placement.
For BOM planning, the base product number SMCJ13CA-13-F is the bidirectional variant; a unidirectional version (SMCJ13A-13-F) exists for applications requiring polarity-specific clamping. Both share the same package and power rating.
