1500W Zener TVS in DO-214AB SMC
The SMCJ11A-13-F: It clamps transients at 18.2V maximum, protecting an 11V rail from surges up to 82.4A. Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) package, it is a surface-mount part suited for general-purpose overvoltage protection on power supplies, telecom lines, and industrial control inputs.
Voltage ratings and clamping behaviour
The reverse standoff voltage is 11V — the rail voltage at which the diode remains non-conductive. This clamping margin means a 12V bus with 10% tolerance sees the TVS stay off during normal operation but clamp fast when a surge exceeds the breakdown threshold. The 1500W rating is the peak power the device can absorb in a single 10/1000µs pulse without failing.
Package and board integration
The DO-214AB SMC package has a standard footprint with a large cathode tab that conducts heat into the PCB copper. The -13-F suffix denotes Tape & Reel packaging, which feeds directly into pick-and-place assembly. Power line protection is not supported — this is a signal or low-power rail clamp, not a mains-side suppressor.
Sourcing and lifecycle posture
The Tape & Reel format is standard for volume reflow assembly.
