AEC-Q101 qualification and automotive deployment
The SMBJ26CAQ-13-F is an automotive-grade bidirectional Zener TVS diode from Diodes Incorporated, qualified to AEC-Q101.
Clamping performance and protection margin
For a 24V automotive bus that sees load-dump transients up to 40V, the 42.1V clamp keeps the downstream ICs within their absolute-maximum ratings — provided the trace inductance between the TVS and the protected node is kept under 10 nH. The bidirectional configuration (single channel) means the same device clamps positive and negative transients equally — useful on signal lines where the reference can swing below ground, such as CAN bus or sensor outputs.
Housed in the DO-214AA (SMB) package, the SMBJ26CAQ-13-F is a surface-mount device with a standard footprint shared across the SMBJ family. The supplier device package is also designated SMB, confirming the same mechanical outline. The tape-and-reel packaging (Cut Tape also available) suits automated pick-and-place assembly.
