Protection window and clamping behaviour
The SMAJ58CA-13-F: This clamping ceiling is the figure a board designer checks against the downstream IC's absolute-maximum voltage rating. If the IC's abs-max is, say, 80 V, a 93.6 V clamp leaves no margin — the TVS alone does not protect that rail; a series resistor or a lower-voltage TVS is needed. The 400 W rating is the energy the part absorbs in a single pulse; it does not repeat at line frequency.
Housed in a DO-214AC (SMA) package, the SMAJ58CA-13-F is a surface-mount device with a standard footprint shared across the SMAJ series. The supplier device package is also designated SMA. The junction temperature range spans -55°C to 150°C, covering industrial and military-temperature environments without derating concerns at the board level. The tape-and-reel packaging supports automated pick-and-place assembly.
