Automotive-grade TVS with 400 W peak pulse rating
The SMAJ40CAQ-13-F: The -55°C to 150°C junction temperature range covers underhood and cabin deployments.
Fit: voltage rail and clamping margin
With a 40 V standoff voltage, this TVS sits on a 36 V or 40 V nominal rail without conducting in normal operation. Breakdown occurs at 44.4 V minimum, and the clamp at 64.5 V — the margin between the rail and the clamp is wide enough to absorb transients without stressing downstream 60 V-rated components. The 6.2 A peak pulse current (10/1000 µs) is the maximum the device can handle before failure. For a 24 V automotive system, a 40 V standoff part is appropriate for load-dump or inductive kickback on the DC bus.
Housed in the DO-214AC (SMA) package, surface-mount. The SMA footprint is standard across many TVS families — the cathode band is marked on the body for orientation (though bidirectional, the marking is still present). The part is RoHS-compliant (Diodes Inc. standard).
