Automotive-grade surge protection for 36 V rails
The SMAJ36AQ-13-F is a 400 W peak-pulse-power TVS diode from Diodes Incorporated, built for clamping transients on a 36 V nominal rail. What sets it apart from the commercial SMAJ36A is the AEC-Q101 qualification — it is screened for the -55 to 150 °C junction-temperature range and the reliability stress profile that automotive OEMs require. The 36 V reverse standoff voltage (VRWM) means this part sits across a 36 V supply without conducting in normal operation, only clamping when the line exceeds the 40 V minimum breakdown voltage. The clamping voltage is 58.1 V at the 6.9 A peak-pulse current (10/1000 µs waveform), which keeps the protected rail below the typical 60 V abs-max of downstream ICs.
Supplied in the DO-214AC (SMA) package — a surface-mount footprint that shares the same land pattern as the standard SMAJ series. The single unidirectional channel is marked by the cathode band, and the package is rated for the full -55 to 150 °C operating junction range.
