28V bidirectional TVS, AEC-Q101, DO-214AC
The SMAJ28CAQ-13-F is a 28V bidirectional Zener TVS from Diodes Incorporated in the DO-214AC (SMA) surface-mount package. It clamps transients to 45.4V max at 8.8A peak pulse current (10/1000µs waveform) and handles 400W peak pulse power — sized for protecting 24V automotive rails from load-dump and inductive kickback events. The -55°C to 150°C junction temperature range covers the full automotive ambient envelope with margin for self-heating during a surge event.
Clamping and surge rating for 24V rails
Reverse standoff voltage is 28V — the TVS draws negligible leakage below this level, so it sits across a 24V nominal bus without loading it. Breakdown occurs at 31.1V min, clamping at 45.4V max with the 8.8A peak pulse current. The 400W peak pulse power rating at 10/1000µs is the standard telecom surge waveform; for shorter automotive transients (ISO 7637-2 pulses 1, 2a, 3a/b) the device handles higher peak currents because the energy per pulse is lower.
Active lifecycle, automotive-grade sourcing
The DO-214AC (SMA) footprint is shared across the entire SMAJ family — the same PCB land pattern works for any voltage variant in this series. Tape & Reel packaging is the standard 13-inch reel for automated pick-and-place assembly.
