Automotive-grade TVS for 26 V rail clamping
The SMAJ26CAQ-13-F is a 400 W peak-pulse bidirectional Zener TVS diode from Diodes Incorporated, housed in a DO-214AC (SMA) surface-mount package. It is qualified to AEC-Q101, the automotive discrete semiconductor reliability standard, covering temperature cycling, ESD sensitivity, and latch-up immunity across the -55 °C to 150 °C junction temperature range. With a 26 V reverse standoff voltage and a minimum breakdown of 28.9 V, this part clamps transients to 42.1 V maximum at the 9.5 A peak-pulse current (10/1000 µs waveform). The 400 W peak-pulse rating means it can absorb a single surge of that energy without failing — a key parameter for sizing the TVS to the expected transient energy on a 24 V automotive bus.
The SMA body measures approximately 4.6 mm × 2.8 mm with a seated height around 2.0 mm, and the cathode tab on the bidirectional variant is electrically neutral — no polarity concern for the board layout. The copper pad area under the package directly sets the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance; a larger pad improves heat sinking during repetitive surge events. Supplied in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) format, the part is compatible with standard pick-and-place assembly. The base product number SMAJ26 identifies the family; the Q suffix marks the automotive grade, and the -13-F indicates the packaging and lead-free finish.
