Protection window and clamping performance
The SMAJ18CA-13-F: The 18 V reverse standoff voltage (VRWM) means the part does not conduct at normal rail voltage up to that level; leakage stays negligible. When a transient exceeds 20 V, the breakdown region triggers, clamping the surge to 29.2 V maximum at the rated 13.7 A peak pulse current. The single bidirectional channel clamps symmetrically in both polarities, so orientation on the board does not matter — useful for AC-coupled signal lines or where the transient polarity is unknown. The -55°C to 150°C junction temperature range covers industrial and outdoor gear; the clamping voltage shifts slightly with temperature, but the 29.2 V ceiling holds across the full range.
Package and board-fit for rework
Supplied in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) options, the part suits both high-volume pick-and-place and prototype runs. The SMA footprint mates with standard PCB land patterns; no exotic pad geometry is needed.
The base product number is SMAJ18, meaning the same die and package are shared across the SMAJ18 family — unidirectional (SMAJ18A-13-F) and bidirectional (this code) variants are the two ordering options.
