400W bidirectional TVS in DO-214AC
The SMAJ16CA-13-F: It clamps at 26V maximum when conducting 15.3A of peak pulse current, protecting downstream circuitry from transients up to that energy level.
16V standoff, 17.8V breakdown — the protection window
Reverse standoff voltage is 16V — the rail sits at or below this during normal operation without leakage. Breakdown occurs at a minimum of 17.8V, so the device stays off until the transient pushes the line past that threshold. The 26V clamping voltage then limits the spike the load sees.
Active production, general-purpose deployment
It is a general-purpose TVS diode suited for protecting signal and low-power supply lines on PCBs where a bidirectional clamp is needed — no polarity concern during installation.
DO-214AC SMA footprint and temperature range
Housed in the DO-214AC (SMA) surface-mount package, the SMAJ16CA-13-F operates over -55°C to 150°C junction temperature. The SMA footprint is a common industry standard for medium-power TVS diodes, making PCB layout reuse straightforward across similar part numbers. Power line protection is not rated — this device is for data and control circuits, not AC mains.
