Clamping and standoff — what the ratings mean for the protected rail
The SMAJ10A-13: With a 10 V reverse standoff voltage (working voltage), this TVS sits on a 10 V or lower rail without conducting in normal operation. The minimum breakdown voltage is 11.1 V, so the device starts clamping above that threshold. The 400 W peak pulse power rating at 10/1000 µs is the energy-handling spec for a single surge event. For shorter pulses (8/20 µs), the peak power capability is higher per the datasheet derating curve, but the 10/1000 µs figure is the conservative anchor for line-side transient protection.
Package and board-fit — DO-214AC (SMA) footprint
The DO-214AC (SMA) package is a standard surface-mount footprint with a 2.6 mm body width and gull-wing leads. The supplier device package is also designated SMA — the same mechanical outline. Available in Tape & Reel (TR) for production pick-and-place or Cut Tape (CT) for prototype and low-volume builds.
Sourcing reality for an obsolete line
Diodes Incorporated has marked the SMAJ10A-13 as Obsolete. Sourcing is through independent surplus inventory — sealed reels with date-code traceability are confirmed at RFQ. The base product number is SMAJ10; the -13 suffix indicates the Tape & Reel packaging variant.
